For one year only, Birmingham Royal Ballet will be performing their spectacular London production of this Christmas favourite at Birmingham Hippodrome before returning to the Royal Albert Hall at the end of 2021. Celebrate Christmas in style again this year!

We join Clara in the Victorian setting of her family home. As midnight strikes, the magical Christmas tree grows and grows, Clara’s nutcracker doll and his army of toy soldiers come to life, and Clara is swept away into a fantasy adventure through an enchanting winter wonderland of dancing snowflakes to the magical kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

The spectacular staging opens on a wintry soundscape - the Dickensian tones of Simon Callow as the voice of Clara’s mysterious godfather, Drosselmeyer, echo across the auditorium as he introduces the story. Video and projection by Tony-Award-winning 59 Productions (An American in Paris, War Horse) and gorgeous period costumes conjure up a spellbinding fantasy world, in which Birmingham Royal Ballet’s superb dancers and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia weave their magic.

The Nutcracker will be performed at Birmingham Hippodrome from 20 November until 11 December and Royal Albert Hall in London from 28 to 31 December 2021.
