The What, Where, When: New Year's
Dance for seven hours to seven decades of music! The Royal Festival Hall will be transformed in to a vintage paradise, featuring dance instructors, musical bingo, hair and beauty makeovers and even a George Formby impersonator. Musical acts will span across the century, from an 18 piece original 1940s style swing orchestra, to Rock'n'Roll acts and Acid Jazz DJ Eddie Piller. What: Big Little Paper Boats
Marking the end of the Year of Creative Scotland, thousands of paper boats made by Scottish students are to be sent down the river Clyde from the Riverside Museum. This special event also celebrates George Wyllie, an artist and writer well known for his paper boat social sculptures, honoured earlier in the Year of Creative Scotland by an Origami Line of paper boats exhibited at a retrospective of his work.

What: Gateshead New Year's Eve Winter Carnival
The build up to spectacular New Year's fireworks doesn't get much better than an all-day carnival. Newcastle's own Ice Queen will lead a parade featuring fire dancers and a Viking Longship up Northumberland Street, accompanied by World Beater's Spark drummers. What: Calenning- Cardiff Winter Wonderland
A host of free live entertainment will ensure vibrant celebrations of New Year's Eve in Cardiff. A fantastic build up to a spectacular firework display will feature a funk party band led by Cardiff's Simon Kingman and the UK's largest ABBA tribute band, Platinum. What: New Year's Eve in London
Experience the world famous London New Year's Eve fireworks at the EDF Energy London Eye. As the event is hugely popular, drawing crowds of thousands, designated viewing areas will be set up along the Thames. Tip? These areas usually fill up early, so remember to arrive from 9pm to 10pm, to avoid disappointment. There will also be free London travel on bus, Tube, tram and DLR between 11.45pm and 4.30am.

What: The New Year's Day Parade
