Review: MyHotel Chelsea
Myhotel Chelsea is a great place to base yourself if you're thinking about a London city break. A short walk from South Kensington tube (the walk there only took me 7 minutes) and tucked away from the main high street (so plenty of on street parking), you're well placed to enjoy the museums such as the V&A, Natural History Museum, and the Science Museum to name but a few.
My stay at the hotel was the night of the UK storm. Walking in from the rather blustery street I was greeted by the very helpful staff on the reception desk who had me checked in in no time. Whilst waiting for my card key (I personally miss actual keys) I had the chance to admire the space. With fish tanks, modern furniture and a clean, white décor, it is contemporary but tasteful.
The suite I was in was the right combination of modern, yet tranquil and welcoming and quite frankly, larger than my small north London flat!
With magazines and blankets neatly scatter around the room, it really felt like a home from home only with the added bonus of a fabulous bathroom with the quickest filling tub (I only have a shower at home so imagine the excitement!) I have ever bathed in.
Bath (with extra bubbles) had it was time for some sustenance. While the location offers plenty of places to grab a nice bite to eat, I was now pyjama-clad so opted for some room service. There is a good choice of food available on the room service menu from soup and hot sandwiches to cheese or charcuterie boards.
I ordered the charcuterie board (which came with warm bread, oil, balsamic vinegar and pickles) which arrived at my room in just 10 minutes. The various meats and bread I thoroughly enjoyed curled up on the sofa indulging in my guilty pleasure, The X Factor, and of course Downton.
Storm blowing outside and Downton credits rolling across the screen, it seemed like the perfect time to turn in. Despite being in the centre of London, the room was very quiet and I was soon off to sleep in the huge bed, complete with feather pillows and duvet.
Breakfast the next morning was a continental buffet. There is a menu so you can order full English if you wish but the pastries, cereals, fruit and yogurt (with a pot of tea) were quiet enough for me.
I can't fault the hotel when it comes to my stay. Warm and luxurious room, great food and fantastic service, there wasn't much not to love.
If I had to be very picky I would say the suite would benefit from double doors separating the lounge area from the bedroom. That way if you are staying with a partner and want an early night, you can close the doors and leave them to watch whatever they are engrossed in on TV (which is Sky and there is also a dvd player).
Myhotel Chelsea feels like a home from home in the heart of the city.
