My grandmother’s remedies: Liquorice
Liquorice is also believed to ease inflammatory conditions such as eczema, arthritis and asthma. It is much less effective in sweet form, and it is recommended that to gain the best results as a natural remedy, you should take 1g-5g dried liquorice root a day.
Although it is a natural remedy, taking too much can lead to side effects, of which the most serious is raised blood pressure – but headaches, water retention and lethargy are also possible. However, this is only in its pure root form – if you’ve just gorged on a whole packet of liquorice allsorts, there’s no need to panic!
