New Year, New Skills

How often have you made the same new year’s resolutions: to learn to dance or play an instrument, to get to grips with your computer, or finally write that novel you know is inside you, if only you knew how to start? Perhaps you are looking to venture on your first solo holiday, to get fit, meet new people or simply to spend more quality time with friends, family or even on yourself? Whatever your resolution for 2018, Marlborough College Summer School can inspire you to achieve something new.

Bookings are now open for the 44th Marlborough College Summer School taking place in Wiltshire from 8 July to 4 August 2018, hosting an amazing array of more than 500 courses suitable for all ages, abilities and interests.

The popularity of Summer School is underpinned by the phrase ‘something for everyone’. Catering for students from 3 years old to 90 years young, it is this blend spanning the generations and accommodating all combinations of family groups and individuals that creates a unique holiday atmosphere in the prestigious setting of Marlborough College.

The eclectic course programme is refreshed annually, and this year is no exception, with traditional favourites running alongside a wide range of new titles encompassing everything from Dorset button-making to contemporary politics, the history of food to Taiji dance and smartphone photography. You can even learn to fly!

For students wishing to make the most of their time at Summer School, booking a stay in one of the College boarding houses is recommended. The historic grounds are conveniently located to enjoy Marlborough’s famous High Street and the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. Plus, as a resident, you can take advantage of the excellent cuisine on offer, the pool and gym facilities and free admission to all lectures, recitals and entertainments.

Gala Performances take place every Tuesday and Friday evening and this year’s superb line-up includes a photographic journey with Chris Packham, an evening with Lord Robert Winston, The Pasadena Roof oorchestra, classical vocal group Blake and a tribute show from Killer Queen.
