HOME REMEDY: Spring clean
Feng shui aims to harmonise the space we live in according to its use, or even according to the person using the space: for example, when I lived in Hong Kong, a wellknown company had the Chinese horoscope of its chief executive drawn up and adapted his office accordingly.
Without going to this extreme, a little thought about how we use our own homes never goes amiss. If a room needs a new lease of life, first give it a good clear out, think about what you want where, do you really want the oversized chest that great aunt Edna gave you, or can a better home be found for it?
Now to the slightly ‘alternative’ part – take a bunch of dried sage, light it so it is smoking and walk round the room with it, clearing out the old use of the room and welcoming in the new use. It is all to do with your intentions – fill it with what you want the room to be now.
More about sage and its other uses next week. Sof McVeigh: www.thehomemadecompany.com
