Glorious Goodwood Magnolia Cup

Ladies' Day, Thursday 1 August, at the iconic 'Glorious Goodwood' race meeting opens with the Markel Magnolia Cup, where eleven brave women will come under starter's orders. They are not professional jockeys. They may be high-flyers in their professional lives - ranging from business and finance to fashion and healthcare - but they've had to learn a tough craft in a short period of time, as complete novices in a new field. Some had never sat on a horse until taking on this challenge!

A horse-race unlike any other, it has raised £2.4 million for women's charities since its launch in 2011. This year it supports My Sister's House, a West Sussex centre that helps women to improve their welfare and wellbeing, reducing their risk of domestic abuse and supporting recovery.

The highlight of the day's the racecard is the prestigious Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes, where the finest mares and fillies aged 3 and over will test their mettle over 1mile, 1 furlong and 197 yards.

Head to Goodwood Racecourse, in its stunning Sussex Downs setting, for a day of high-stakes racing and high-end style.
