Following the success of their initial campaign in support of Women’s Aid, which received support from the likes of Laura Whitmore, Alexandra Shulman and Pandora Sykes, on Friday 19th June luxury fashion resale service, Cudoni will launch a second wave of pre-loved items to continue raising money and awareness, for the domestic abuse charity.
During this difficult time, as many are living through Covid-19 lockdown with a potentially abusive partner or family member, more women than ever are at risk of being harmed in acts of domestic violence. In recent weeks the charity Women’s Aid has spoken out about the urgent need for more financial support. In light of the recent BLM movement, it’s also important to recognise the crucial support Women’s Aid offer BME communities, by acknowledging the additional barriers that women from Black, Asian or minority ethnic communities are likely to face when seeking help and providing guidance. They have shared free resources about how to support Black women who have experienced abuse.
Cudoni have partnered with a host of high-profile stylists, journalists, and influencers to create a second edit of designer items to sell via their platform, with all proceeds going to Women’s Aid. The edit, which will be joining the remaining items from the original campaign, consists of luxury items from designers such as Gucci, Rixo and Victoria Beckham that were generously donated from the personal wardrobes of some of the media and fashion industry’s biggest names.
They will be joining names from phase one: Podcaster and Writer Pandora Sykes, Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore, bestselling Author and Journalist Daisy Buchanan, former Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue Alexandra Shulman, Telegraph Editor Celia Walden, Sky Sports racing presenter Alex Hammond, influencer and fashion writer Katherine Ormerod, Harper’s Bazaar Fashion Editor Miranda Almond, TV presenter Anna Daly and stylists Aimee Croysdill and Isabel Kelly.
Items within the edit will be available to purchase from midday this Friday via the www.cudoni.com/womens-aid with 100% of the money raised from sales donated to Women’s Aid, including Cudoni’s usual commission rate. In line with the government guidelines, every item within the edit has been collected contact-free, adhering to Cudoni’s strict new collection policy.
Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. They have been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic violence and abuse through practice for over 45 years, empowering survivors by keeping their voices at the heart of their work.
In recent weeks, due to the rise in domestic abuse cases during lockdown, Women’s Aid has spoken out about the urgent need for more financial support.
Faye Connelly, Women's Aid Fundraising Manager said: "We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Cudoni and all those who have contributed to this amazing campaign to raise funds for Women’s Aid. In recent months, we have all witnessed the spread and impact of Coronavirus. Survivors have told us that they are experiencing escalated levels of abuse due to the lockdown. As long as the restrictions are in place, we expect to see a continued rise in demand for our services. Cudoni’s support will make a huge difference to ensure that we can support more woman reaching out."
Cudoni founder, James Harford-Tyrer, who was recently shortlisted in Forbes’ prestigious 30 under 30, is passionate in supporting those affected by the outbreak and has implemented multiple measures and initiatives within the business in line with this.
James Harford-Tyrer said: "We are proud to be working with a fantastic group of inspirational women to take a stand against domestic abuse with Women's Aid. This is an incredibly important cause that we need to get behind, now more than ever, in these challenging times. We continue to offer our contact-free collection service to help facilitate those who wish to make donations towards this vital campaign through resale. Domestic abuse has no place in our society, so we encourage everyone to help drive further awareness of the issue and continue to donate."
